Generally speaking, you should be able to use your old opener if you have a new door installed. The reason you would need to make a change is if your new door is much heavier than your opener can support. If you are having a residential door installed that is comparable to the one you are removing, this should not be a problem.
If your opener is old or wearing out, you may consider installing a new system when you have your door upgraded. A newer unit paired with a new door can provide you with a very quiet operation.
